Job summary

DECAST is seeking a QC Manager to lead quality control operations across production units in our Canadian facilities. You will drive compliance with CSA standards and customer specifications while fostering continuous improvement and strong collaboration with Plant Managers, QC staff, and other departments.

The ideal candidate will bring a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a P.Eng designation, and at least 3 years of QC experience in precast concrete, with deep knowledge of CSA A23.1/.2,

Qualifications

  • P.Eng designation required.
  • Minimum 3 years of QC experience in precast concrete.
  • Strong knowledge of CSA A23.1/.2, CSA A23.4, OPSS.
  • Experience with audits, NCRs and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality leadership across production areas to ensure products meet standards.
  • Collaborate with Plant Managers and QC teams to promote quality and accountability.
  • Support daily QC priorities, inspections, testing, and documentation.
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Prepare quality reports and monitor trends for management review.

Job description

DECAST is leading the Canadian infrastructure market, including water transmission, bridges, storm and sanitary, tunneling, and engineered precast products. The QC Manager will report directly to the QC Director and will provide leadership and hands‑on support in daily quality control operations, technical reviews, documentation, compliance, and process improvements. The successful candidate will assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive quality management systems to ensure that all manufactured products meet or exceed industry standards, client specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving product consistency, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across all production units.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, demonstrate attention to detail, and be capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Success in this role requires collaboration across departments to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with customer requirements and company objectives.

Quality Leadership & Production Support
  • Provide quality leadership and support across production areas to ensure products meet applicable standards and specifications.
  • Work closely with Plant Managers, Plant Superintendents, production teams, and QC personnel to promote quality, consistency, and accountability.
  • Support daily QC priorities, inspection activities, testing requirements, documentation, and follow‑up actions.
  • Identify quality risks, production concerns, and opportunities to improve consistency, efficiency, and overall product quality.
  • Promote a strong culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Quality Systems, Procedures & Training
  • Develop, review, and maintain quality procedures, SOPs, work instructions, inspection forms, and supporting documentation.
  • Support consistent implementation of quality systems and procedures across production departments.
  • Provide guidance, training, and technical support to QC personnel and production staff.
  • Ensure quality records are accurate, organized, traceable, and maintained to support audits, certifications, inspections, and customer requirements.
Quality Issue Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead or support the review and resolution of quality issues, non‑conformances, corrective actions, and root cause investigations.
  • Work with Plant Managers, Superintendents, QC, and production teams to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review recurring quality issues and support process improvements to reduce rework, improve consistency, and strengthen quality performance.
Compliance, Certifications & Reporting
  • Support compliance with applicable standards, project requirements, and certifications, including CSA, AWWA, NSF-61, CPCQA, BNQ, Schedule A, and other customer or regulatory requirements.
  • Support annual certification requirements, audit preparation, certification reviews.
  • Prepare quality reports, performance summaries, metrics, and updates for management review.
  • Monitor quality trends and provide clear recommendations to support decision‑making and continuous improvement.
Skills, Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • P.Eng. designation
  • Minimum 3 years of quality control experience within the precast concrete industry.
  • Strong understanding of CSA A23.1/.2, CSA A23.4, OPSS, and related quality requirements.
  • Strong technical knowledge of concrete quality control testing methods
  • Experience with documentation control, inspection records, audits, certifications, NCRs, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to interpret working drawings, fabrication details, project specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Working at DECAST
  • Range of pay for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 annually
    • We recognize that top talent may exceed the parameters of this role. For the right candidate, we are open to expanding the scope and adjusting compensation to reflect their experience and expertise.
