Quality Control Inspector - Prince George Refinery

The Opportunity

Tidewater has an immediate opening for a Quality Control Inspector reporting to the Chief Inspector. This is a full-time position based in our Prince George Refinery.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide primary quality assurance, quality control, technical and code / regulatory support for the maintenance team.
  2. Review engineering work packages and/or repair plans for material selection, weld procedure acceptance, nondestructive examination requirements, specification, and regulatory compliance.
  3. Develop, document, perform and/or coordinate inspection and surveillance activities required to support the maintenance group.
  4. Independently inspect and/or monitor repair and construction work.
  5. Participate in the identifying and/or resolution of non-conformances and inspection deficiencies.
  6. Coordinate inspection activities with the Maintenance, Engineering, Projects, and Operations groups.
  7. Develop, maintain, control and/or audit quality records, inspection reports, integrity assessments, non-conformance reports and other necessary documentation related to construction and repair activities.
  8. Prepare QA/QC packages for work performed by the Maintenance Group and ensure that welders logbooks are maintained, PQR’s are valid, welding and test equipment are calibrated, materials are handled as per program requirements.
  9. Perform visual inspections, assessments, and reporting of PSV's.
  10. Perform car seal audits of units to ensure regulatory and PEIM Manual compliance.
  11. Work with the Chief Inspector to review, audit and update the PEIM Manual as required.
  12. Support regulatory audits related to Tidewater's Class A contractor’s license and CWB Structural License and liaise with the regulatory authority on jobs outside of our Owner User scope of our PEIM Manual.
  13. Other work as assigned by the Chief Inspector.
Ideal Candidate

Qualifications & Competencies

CWB Level 1 Certified Welding Inspector with a W47.1, B31.3 and/or ASME Sec VIII endorsement. Level 2 is considered an asset.
API 510, 570, 653 Certification considered an asset.
Certified Engineering Technologist or engineer in welding, materials, or mechanical considered an asset.
Minimum 2 years experience in a quality assurance/control and/or asset integrity role.
Strong knowledge of pressure equipment codes and regulations in British Columbia.
Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel an asset.
Valid Class 5 drivers license and acceptable drivers abstract.
Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Positive and professional attitude and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Ability and willingness to work overtime.
High regard for safety in the workplace, and has a strong commitment to operational policies and procedures.
