Overview:

Swissport Canada Inc. is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to support its activities related to bulk fuel storage facility and fuel distribution system operation, as well as aircraft fueling and defueling. This position is available at our Montreal (YUL) office.

The role will directly report to the Environmental Manager with indirect reporting to the Fuel Facilities and Tank Farm Operations Managers.

Key Roles:
  • Support the development and implementation of Environmental Management System (EMS) at Montreal (YUL) and Mirabel (YMX) sites.
  • Perform environmental audits to ensure compliance with EMS and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and advice to management and employees on requirements of EMS.
  • Deliver presentations as well as providing training to ensure all staff within EMS scope are familiar with their roles and responsibilities.
  • Provide environmental oversight and advice to projects and operations.
  • Report on environmental KPIs such as number of environmental incidents, spills etc.
  • Ensure operational processes comply with applicable ISO 9001, 45001, 14001 standards and support ongoing audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation and procedures in alignment with ISO 9001, 45001, 14001 requirements and organizational compliance standards.
  • Support internal and external ISO 9001, 45001, 14001 audits by preparing documentation and addressing corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and assist in the containment and clean-up of environmental spills on site as required.
  • Prepare, maintain, and implement emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Assist with QA/QC responsibilities related to stormwater management, hazardous waste handling and storage etc.
  • Establish and foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Environmental Science or an equivalent academic background.
  • 1–3 years of demonstrated experience in environmental compliance, regulatory requirements, and environmental reporting.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
  • Working knowledge of Federal and Provincial environmental legislation, including applicable environmental compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations and requirements related to the handling and transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Knowledge of petroleum storage requirements, including the Storage Tank Systems for Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products Regulations and the Environmental Code of Practice for aboveground and underground storage tank systems.
  • Airport and fueling experience, with practical knowledge of airport operations, fueling activities, and related environmental considerations.
  • Strong data organization and technical reporting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Valid Quebec driver’s license, bilingual proficiency in French and English, and eligibility to work in Canada.
