Job description

Your Opportunity:

Guides, coaches, and influences the implementation of assigned Consultant - Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives at the local, site, or program level and maintains and puts into practice, proficiency regarding the body of knowledge and the application of appropriate QI methodologies. Participates in and supports assigned work as it aligns with the accepted improvement methodology and safety analysis framework (quality assurance and non-quality assurance reviews). Scope of work may involve multiple clients, departments, and sites. Independently undertakes client relations, ongoing liaison with AHS departments, and other stakeholder engagement for QI work and provides ad hoc consultations and QI advice to local operations Monitors (being aware of/receiving) leading practice, trends, and benchmarks for assigned initiatives and bringing these to the attention of applicable operational leaders at the local, site, program or provincial levels Acts in the role of facilitator and SME (subject matter expert) regarding the body of knowledge and the application of appropriate QI methodologies and handles QI assignments and related issues of increased complexity. Maintains proficiency regarding the body of knowledge and the application of: Appropriate QI methodologies and patient safety theory. All Non-Union Exempt positions are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the AUPE General Support Services bargaining unit. If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly. Participates in the assessment of educational needs and subsequent design and delivery of education, and provides train the trainer solutions specialist for staff, physician, and other Quality Specialist’s education. Performs advanced analytics and reporting of data and provides advice to stakeholders including senior operational leaders.

Description:

As a leader in the development and promotion of best practice in quality improvement and patient safety, the Quality Consultant develops, coordinates and facilitates the provision of quality improvement services at the site, sector and zone level. Through collaboration and consultation with stakeholders, this position is responsible for influencing culture change through continual representation of the quality management body of knowledge in strategic program development, influencing change management approaches in development and implementation of new programs and improvement initiatives, and for facilitating the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives related to service improvement, patient safety and accreditation standards. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with administrative and clinical leaders at the site, sector and zone level. Specific job duties vary by site assignment and geographic location. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; equivalent combination of education and clinical experience may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Meets all Working Level 1 requirements including: 5 years experience in healthcare or related sector. Experience and involvement with QI initiatives and process improvement. In-depth knowledge - expert level QI toolkit: body of knowledge, process skills, and tools, and Change Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Documented evidence of formal training in QI, and process improvement. Demonstrated leadership skills, especially in leading multidisciplinary and complex QI initiatives Strong relationship building skills. Master’s degree in a health-related field or Engineer with process improvement expertise, or business preferred.
