QA Test Engineer Fire Products

Pointe Claire, Quebec

Our portfolio includes: fire detection & alarm, communications & security, mass notification, nurse call, and building automation & smart technologies.

Summary:

The QA Test Engineer will direct and oversee the testing and evaluation of hardware and software for the company’s real-time, embedded, communications and life-safety systems. This role is located at our Pointe Claire, Quebec office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the product design team to document and implement requirements.
  • Develop and maintain test plans for standard products.
  • Develop and maintain testing methodologies and practices for effective evaluation of hardware and software designs.
  • Test and evaluate hardware and software for new and upgraded products.
  • Prepare test reports and work with designers to resolve technical issues.
  • Act as the authority on code requirements and test methods related to ULC and UL listed products.
  • Provide guidance to ensure the Engineering Lab has necessary tools and materials.
  • Establish and support high technical standards in the industry.
  • Lead in the identification and implementation of new processes and tools.
  • Report deficiencies in systems and equipment to Senior Management.
  • Record and report product damage/nonconformities as required.
  • Comply with Quality Assurance policies and procedures.
  • Participate in effective production efficiency.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Good knowledge of current testing methodologies in a modern lab environment.
  • Several years experience in hardware and software testing in a real-time environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of codes and standards in the fire alarm industry.
  • Good knowledge of safety procedures related to electrical equipment.
  • Excellent written and spoken English with ability to create clear test reports.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Degree in electrical engineering plus several years experience in a system test or verification role.
