Job Description

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the QA Technician will manage and coordinate all aspects of raw procurement and delivery for Cavendish Appetizer’s Wheatley facility. The candidate for this position will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, a “Can Do” attitude, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform physical testing and quality grading of food production samples to ensure the product conforms to company product specifications.
  • Conduct microbiological, chemical, and physical tests on purchased food ingredients and finished products following company procedures.
  • Perform microbiological, chemical, and physical tests on wastewater samples (BOD, TSS, pH, Phosphate, Ammonia, Microbiological).
  • Conduct routine sanitation inspections of processing equipment at critical points in the production area and identify potential sources of contamination.
  • Document test results and communicate findings effectively to Quality and Production Managers.
  • Participate in food safety initiatives, internal and external audits.
  • Ensure proper methods and procedures are followed in accordance with food safety standards and Health and Safety policies.
  • Maintain good laboratory practices (GLP) and accurate testing records.
  • Work on projects assigned by the Quality Manager.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a Laboratory Technician with microbiological plating methods.
  • Experience as an Environmental Technician with wastewater analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety Programs including HACCP and SQF.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a food processing facility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as JD Edwards, SAP, etc.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using Excel, including spreadsheets and graphing.
