Job description

We’re looking for motivated, engaged individuals to improve every journey.

This position oversees quality and food safety controls related to operations, audits, and policy compliance. The role involves leading quality improvement projects, preventing defects, and acting as the primary liaison to Corporate QA.

  1. Lead and monitor quality and food safety improvement initiatives.
  2. Audit the implementation and effectiveness of quality and food safety systems, ensuring compliance with Gate Gourmet, customer, and regulatory standards.
  3. Monitor corrective actions and ensure timely resolution.
  4. Educate and train staff and managers on quality and food safety issues.
  5. Develop and implement comprehensive quality and food safety programs.
  6. Champion continuous quality improvement and problem-solving efforts.
  7. Focus on defect prevention and coordinate actions to prevent non-conformities.
  8. Maintain customer compliance and oversee key performance metrics for quality assurance.
  9. Ensure food safety and quality in processing and manufacturing.
  10. Support and prepare for customer and government audits to ensure compliance.
  11. Verify adherence to company policies and quality specifications.
  12. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  13. Ensure safety, quality, and customer specifications are met.
  14. Train staff on proper procedures to maximize productivity and security while minimizing costs.
  15. Manage employee performance, including evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions, coordinating with HR.
  16. Balance workflow responsibilities among team members, including task assignments and workstations.
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • College or university degree in a related field is preferred.

Work Experience:

  • At least 1 year in food safety controls (GMPs, SOPs, HACCP) and quality management.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a high-volume food production or related environment is preferred.
  • Experience in the airline industry is a plus.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Knowledge of quality, food safety, and audit methods.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Technical Certifications:

  • HACCP certification is required.
  • ServeSafe certification is advantageous.
  • Six Sigma certification is a plus.
Preferred Skills
  • Analytical skills with knowledge of basic statistics and process capability.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of PHAC regulations, lean principles, and continuous improvement.
Language Skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Compensation Range: $70,000 to $80,000 gross annually.
