Compass Minerals Canada Corp. is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor for the Goderich Evaporation facility in Goderich, ON.

This role reports to the Plant Manager and oversees QA/QC activities, drives quality improvements, and ensures adherence to food safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has a BS in Chemistry or Food Safety and 5–7 years of lab experience with familiarity in HACCP, GFSI, and ISO standards, plus strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Food Safety or equivalent education and experience.
• 5–7 years of lab experience or in a food manufacturing/agricultural setting.
• Experience with quality systems and tools (statistical methods, FMEA, control plans).
• Direct experience in HACCP, BRCS, GFSI, ISO 2000, FSMA, and SFCR standards is desired.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio).

• Work with corporate quality to identify, maintain, and report metrics for quality performance.
• Plan and perform quality audits of the Goderich Plant and other Compass sites.

We are currently hiring a Quality Assurance Supervisor to join the team at our Goderich Evaporation facility in Goderich, ON.

Goderich Plant

Compass Minerals’ Goderich Plant has operated since 1867, after an unsuccessful search for oil uncovered a vast bed of rock salt under Goderich. Using mechanical evaporation, the plant produces high-purity, fine- and coarse-grained salt products in packages and in bulk for commercial, agricultural, and industrial applications. The plant also packages rock salt from the mine that is used for deicing and water conditioning. Goderich is named Canada’s Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1.5 hours from London and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.

How will you contribute to the team?

This position, reporting to the Plant Manager, is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and quality control at the Goderich Plant. The QA Supervisor will drive quality improvement and supervise the local QC staff to provide quality assurance.

• Responsible for site Quality Management System and Food Safety program
• Supervise QC to assure customer satisfaction with Goderich products.
• Supervise the laboratory including personnel, results, reporting. (Note: Lab analysis and testing by the Quality Supervisor will be necessary for lab coverage, training, and investigation.)
• Participate in immediate resolution to customer issues.
• Manage the communication and follow-up of customer quality issues for the site.
• Identify areas of deficiency and drive improvement.
• Remain current and serve as site expert in pertinent product regulatory requirements.
• Maintain communication and liaise with pertinent product regulatory agencies.
• Identify deficiency with Goderich SOPs. Instruct and assist with the development, documentation, and control of SOP’s.
• Participate with corporate quality to brainstorm, promote, and drive continuous improvement in Compass quality systems.
• Work with corporate quality to identify, maintain, and report concise, encompassing metrics that communicate quality performance at Goderich site.
• Plan and perform quality audits of Goderich Plant and other Compass sites.

Minimum Required Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education And/or Experience

• Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree (Chemistry or Food Safety) or equivalent education and experience.
• 5 – 7 years of lab experience, or food manufacturing and/or agricultural setting is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated experience in quality systems and tools (statistical methods, FMEA, control plans) is preferred.
• Direct experience in, or administration of, HACCP, BRCS, GFSI, ISO 2000, FSMA, and SFCR Standards, quality and/or food safety systems and production and laboratory procedures is desired.
• Intermediate to advance understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Visio)

What is the work schedule?

• This is an onsite Monday-Friday, 40 hr. work week.

About The Position
