Role Overview:

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all inbound and outbound Fresh products (Produce, meat, and seafood) meet LCL quality standards at the Distribution level. The specialist collaborates with various teams to ensure compliance with policies and regulations, maintaining high standards of quality and food safety.

What You'll Do:
  1. Verify that all inbound products meet quality specifications (size, weight, trim, color, etc.) through measurements and testing programs.
  2. Ensure adherence to Quality Assurance programs and policies, maintaining high standards of quality and safety for meat and seafood products.
  3. Conduct daily and ongoing QA audits of products, including slot checks and distribution checks.
  4. Investigate and document quality inspection findings using appropriate forms and systems.
  5. Communicate regularly with QA management and other departments.
  6. Coordinate with CFIA regarding quality issues as directed.
  7. Participate in strategic decisions and continuous improvement initiatives as a key team member.
  8. Achieve and contribute to team KPIs and monitoring metrics.
  9. Perform additional duties and projects as assigned in a timely manner.
Role Requirements:
  1. Post-secondary education.
  2. 2-4 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Operations, preferably in the meat, seafood, or produce industry.
  3. Knowledge of grades, sizes, colors of fresh produce, meat, and seafood, including CFIA/USDA standards is an asset.
  4. Proficiency in Windows-based software: Excel, Outlook, Office 365; SAP and Manhattan knowledge are assets.
  5. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  6. Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment.
  7. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, analytical, and organized.
  8. Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
  9. Availability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Key Performance Indicators:
  1. Contribution to the long-term goals of the National Quality Assurance team.
  2. Consistent reporting and effective communication.
  3. Enhancement of produce image and customer satisfaction.
  4. Verification and rejection rates, management of stale dates.
