Qualifications

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance & Service Specialist, as part of the Laboratory Medicine Program (TeamLMP), provides technical expertise supporting quality system and regulatory functions within the Histocompatibility, Genome Diagnostics, and Cancer Cytogenetics Laboratories.

Duties
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of the quality plan for the Labs, ensuring alignment with LMP's quality management system
  • Collaborate with management to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Implement and uphold discipline-specific quality standards and best practices
  • Ensure conformance with applicable regulatory and accreditation agencies, such as Accreditation Canada, CAP, AABB, Health Canada, and others
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support laboratory operations
  • Work with the Quality Manager on patient safety incidents
  • Assist in scientific studies, data analysis, and presentation of quality-related research
  • Lead staff competency, validation, and safety initiatives
Qualifications
  • Completion of a 3-year community college program in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Certification in quality assurance practices (preferred)
  • Registration with the College of Medical Technologists of Ontario
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a large hospital setting
  • At least 2 years in Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories
  • Knowledge of accreditation and assessment processes
  • Proficiency with Epic (preferred)
  • Understanding of CQI and TQM techniques (preferred)
  • Leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Computer skills, including Word and Excel; database management is an asset
