Base pay range
CA$90,000.00 / yr - CA$90,000.00 / yr
We are seeking an organized, strong-communicator and process-minded individual, with a focus on food safety. Working cross-functionally with other teams in the facility, the focus of this role will be driving food safety and compliance requirements, managing a small team, decreasing waste and continuous improvement to our product lines. They will also become a member of the BAC [Baking Association of Canada] upon hire.
Quality Assurance Duties
- Resource for food safety, regulatory, HACCP and other programs related to food manufacturing [bakery environment].
- Prepares, analyzes, and discusses strategic initiatives from QA / FS perspective in automation and future development of product lines.
- Understanding of micro testing, chemical and organoleptic for bake goods.
- Leads food safety culture through continuous training and development methods.
- Continuous improvement on internal food safety and product development program(s).
- Leader in all regulatory, customer, internal and government audits.
- Performs routine plant walks and champions GMP’s.
- Supports the planning of strategic projects, product launches, and other planning activities.
- Gatekeeper for record keeping for all customers, ingredients, storage, packaging, food safety initiatives and safe operating procedures.
- Accountable to managing department’s time / attendance and payroll requirements.
- Coach, train and motivate team.

Qualifications
- Must have HACCP, PCQI certificate(s) for Canada / USA.
- Must have working knowledge for Kosher, license compliance (SFCR-CFIA / FDA) and GFSI requirements.
- Must have working knowledge of frozen goods in food service / retail space.
- Minimum 5 years management experience in food manufacturing.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Food Science, Business) or equivalent related experience - Bakery experience a strong asset.
- Exceptional leadership, decision making, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of plant computerized safety management systems.
- Solid financial acumen with a strength in analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs.
- Motivated to drive change.
- French is an asset.
- PMP certificate is an asset.
- Must have high attention to detail and adapt to change quickly.
