The Role:
We are looking for a seasoned Quality Assurance Manager to join our Quality Assurance team at our EcoCup plant in Mississauga. As a member of both our quality leadership and plant management teams, your mandate is to establish, implement, and improve the plant’s quality management system, with accountability for upholding the manufacturing of food that is safe, compliant and meets specifications, all while leading a team of QA professionals.

- As a member of the plant management team deliver objectives in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Environment.
- Lead the planning and implementation of plant quality objectives.
- Champion a plant culture of food safety and compliance to specifications.
- Prepare and ensure adherence to the QA department annual operating budget.
- Manage the SQF Food Safety and Quality System.
- Develop and champion all quality and food safety programs including HACCP, Traceability, GMPs, Pest Control and Sanitation.
- Ensure that finished products are safe, compliant to regulations and meet customer specifications.
- Coordinate third-party and internal audits.
- Coordinate customer quality assurance visits and responds to customer quality assurance inquiries.
- Manage customer quality specifications & reporting.
- Apply total quality management and statistical tools in investigations, analytics and reporting.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of product holds, customer and consumer complaints and regulatory issues.
- Act as Site Recall Coordinator.
- Oversee the quality of contract manufactured goods and incoming raw materials.
- Coordinate/conduct product or raw material trials and projects in conjunction with cross-functional teams.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts in quality systems, food safety and specification compliance.
- Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws.
What you bring to the role:
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in a food and/or aseptic beverage manufacturing environment in addition to a BSc in Sciences or Industrial Engineering discipline.
- Must understand GFSI recognized certification program requirements.
- Must have completed an HACCP course and be experienced and competent to maintain a HACCP based food safety system.
- Must have experience in a leadership role.
- Must have experience in FSMA and FDA regulatory requirements as well as SFCR/CFIA regulatory requirements in the food industry
- Have a working knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control) applications and implementation.
- Some mechanical aptitude and understanding of the coffee making process equipment is preferred.
- Complete understanding of the laboratory analytical equipment function and operation is required.
- Some microbiological experience would be considered an advantage.
- Capable of making judgement, risk and business decisions quickly and expeditiously.
- Ability to stand-alone in decision making, to plan, organize and direct work.
- Able to prioritize and manage a diverse number of projects.
- Ability to work well in multifunctional team environment with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
