Job summary

Avmax Group Inc. is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead the AMO QA program, manage internal audits, and coordinate a team of auditors across multiple locations.

Key Performance Indicators / Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establish, maintain and continuously improve the AMO Quality Assurance Program in accordance with CAR 573.09/561.09 and keep the Quality Assurance Manual current.
  • Plan and control the progressive internal audit program so all approved activities, locations, functions and incorporated procedures are covered within the required cycle.
  • Lead the QA team and coordinate qualified employees or external auditors, ensuring QA responsibilities take precedence and auditors remain independent from the work being assessed.
  • Ensure representative random audits are completed while maintenance is in progress, including appropriate nighttime coverage.
  • Review and validate audit findings, publish audit reports, and communicate results to responsible managers and senior leadership.
  • Evaluate corrective-action plans, monitor due dates, approve or reject extension requests, and verify that completed actions are effective.
  • Identify repeat, overdue, immediate or systemic non-compliance and elevate significant issues to the Director of Quality, PRM and Accountable Executive as appropriate.
  • Oversee supplier self-audits and the approved vendor/supplier list, complete required customer self-audits, and maintain customer quality files.
  • Maintain complete quality records in the company quality-management system and prepare investigations, management reports and annual audit-program reporting covering trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Fundamental aircraft knowledge and strong working knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations, particularly Standards 571 and 573, approved maintenance-policy manuals, maintenance-release controls, and technical record requirements.
  • Formal auditor training, with knowledge of audit planning, objective evidence, finding development, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness verification.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical procedures, audit criteria, and management actions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, professionalism, attention to detail, discretion, and confidence to raise difficult compliance matters.
  • An AME licence and post-secondary education in aviation maintenance, quality systems, engineering, safety, or a related field are considered assets. Equivalent qualifications may be considered where regulatory requirements are met.
Experience
  • A minimum of four years of experience in an aviation quality-related role.
  • A minimum of three years of management or supervisory experience, including experience guiding and developing a quality team.
  • Practical auditing experience, including audit planning, objective evidence, finding development, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness verification.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with people throughout the organization.
  • Experience supporting TCCA surveillance, regulatory correspondence, and corrective-action plans.
