Job description

Job Description: The Quality Assurance Inspector reports to the Supervisor, Manufacturing Quality, and is responsible for receiving inspection, intermediate inspection, and final inspection of sheet metal parts and kits. This role involves creating permission letters for customer installation on specific aircraft serial numbers and providing customer tracking for continuing airworthiness. The inspector also prepares Authorized Release Certificates and QA release documentation.

Primary Position Responsibilities:

  1. Detailed Parts Inspection:
  • Retrieve parts from the incoming rack for all inspection stages.
  • Inspect parts using vision and measurement tools for accuracy and defects according to drawings and work orders.
  • Create tags in SAP and Transport Canada Authorized Release Certificates for approved parts.
  • Issue NCs and conduct containment for non-conforming parts.
  • Complete FAI reports as per AS9102 standards.
  • Meet daily/weekly inspection KPIs.
  • Maintain all required inspection authorities through mandatory training.
  • Participate in root cause and problem-solving investigations for CARs, NCs, and audit findings.
  • Kit Inspections:
    • Retrieve parts from incoming racks and assemble kits, inputting traceability data.
    • Verify work orders and drawings are current and accurate.
    • Create release documentation for completed kits.
    • Package kits and submit for warehouse processing.
    • Complete FAI reports and meet KPIs.
    • Participate in root cause investigations.
  • Create Permission Letters:
    • Input information from CSR or planner, ensuring kit validity for aircraft models.
    • Authorize customer installation on specific aircraft serial numbers and track for airworthiness.
  • Create Authorized Release Certificates:
    • Ensure all part and order information is correctly entered.
  • Calibration:
    • Maintain calibration registers and recall lists.
    • Coordinate with third-party calibration providers.
    • Review calibration reports and initiate deviation reports if needed.
    • Support on-site calibration of handheld equipment.

    Position Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Preferably 5 years of detailed parts inspection experience.
    • Knowledge of special processes (e.g., heat treat, chemical conversions, painting, metrology) is a plus.

    • Ability to read blueprints.
    • Basic computer skills.
