Job summary

Kumaran Systems is seeking an entry-level QA Engineer to join our Regression Testing team in Toronto. You will validate application functionality across releases, execute automated and manual test suites, and work closely with development and functional testing teams to ensure product quality.

You will develop and maintain automated tests with Selenium and Playwright, perform manual regression testing where needed, and write SQL queries to verify backend data.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of QA or software testing experience, including internships or academic projects.
• Basic understanding of test automation concepts and the software testing lifecycle (STLC).
• Familiarity with SQL for basic data validation queries.
• Exposure to at least one scripting language (Python preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to defect identification.
• Good written and verbal communication for documenting test cases and collaborating cross-functionally.
• Eagerness to learn new tools and testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Execute and maintain regression test suites ( automated and manual ) to validate stability.
• Develop and update automated tests using Selenium and Playwright (TypeScript).
• Perform manual regression testing using Kofax where automation isn't applicable.
• Write and run SQL queries to validate backend data integrity.
• Use Bruno for API testing and validation.
• Log, track, and manage defects and test cases in ALM and JIRA.
• Collaborate with the functional testing team on coverage using ALM, JIRA, and Confluence.
• Support terminal emulation/legacy system testing via Reflection Workspace.
• Assist with OCP (Open Container Platform) validation testing.
• Write basic scripts/utilities in Python to support test automation and data handling.
• Develop within Eclipse and VS Code IDEs.
