Bimbo Canada in Hamilton, ON is seeking a Quality and Food Safety Technician for the night shift. The role focuses on quality systems, investigations, CAPA, and training to ensure superior product quality.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Food Quality Assurance preferably in the food industry, with in depth knowledge of Quality Systems, Regulation, Sanitation, GFSI (i.e. BRC, SQF) and FSMA (PCQI).
  • Knowledge in Statistical Process Control (i.e. Lean)
  • B.Sc.in Food Science or equivalent combination of academic and professional experience.
  • Team oriented and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to train and motivate personnel at the manufacturing level.
  • Moderate to high level of computer skills, including data analysis and report writing of recommendations for corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Available and flexible to work night shifts (9:00 PM–5:00 AM or 10:00 PM–6:00 AM) or afternoon shifts, including 8-hour or 12-hour schedules, based on operational needs.
  • Investigate consumer and customer complaints root cause in collaboration with the plant management team. Clearly communicate the investigation results to all stakeholders and are involved in complaint reduction projects.
  • Complete end-of-year reports.
  • Perform inspections related to Quality and Food Safety programs with cross function plant team members.
  • Review and complete analysis on microbiological, chemical and environmental results and follow up to ensure problems are corrected through CAPA process.
  • Conduct sanitation verification activities as required (Micro Y&M swabbing, visual verification, allergen swabbing).
  • Actively engaged in Corporate Product scoring. Assist with follow-up by verifying the process parameters and corrective actions.
  • Interact with production, maintenance, sanitation and plant associates when quality / food safety issues arise.
  • Liaison with R&D, formulation adjustments, product evaluation, and product launch activities.
  • Monitors Supplier and Ingredients non-conformance system to ensure follow-up from suppliers. Involves internal stakeholders and escalates if issues are not being resolved to prevent the recurrence of the non-conformities.
  • Participate in the process of managing non-compliances of finished products during production. Documents and ensures the non‑conformity follow up.
  • Maintains and verify the quality and food safety documentation up to date at the plant level, including customer and product specifications with formulas. Ensures follow up in case of non‑conformity.
  • Support the plant team during internal, third party or government inspections and audits.
  • Ensure that associates receive the required training and deliver specific training, for example CCPs.
  • Plan and execute different periodic tests as per corporate programs.
  • Support the QFS Teamin continuous improvement projects, follow up corrective action requests, requests from customers and apply different QFS programs.

Hiring Requirements:

The Quality and Food Safety (QFS) Technician must demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, problem solving, and communication skills. The QFS Technician must identify and help take action to ensure Superior Quality Always of our products.

The annual salary range for applicants is: $55,000 - $61,000, which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other factors.
