The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the inspection of raw material and in process products at various stages of manufacturing processing. Duties also involve the weighting and labelling of the intermediate products and maintains compliance with established quality standards.
Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Monitor plant manufacture procedures, including Deskinning and Deboning of poultry.
- Alert the processing Lead Hands of product quality or process problems during production.
- Ensure proper code dating, identification, and weighting of all intermediate products.
- Ensure the input and the output materials are controlled and FIFO procedure is followed.
- Monitor the production floor temperature and the intermediate products in timely manner.
- Sample and inspect raw material and intermediate products for QA evaluation as per established procedure.
- Notify the Manager/Supervisor/Lead Hand to any food safety or quality issues during processing or material storage.
- Adhere to and enforce all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and notify management of all infractions in a timely manner.
- Assist with plant GMP/sanitation audits and participate in quality planning and improvement activities.
- Withhold product that does not meet minimum quality or safety standards.
- Adhere to company health and safety policies/procedures including the use of all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ad-hoc tasks related.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioscience or a College Diploma in a related field.
- 2 to 4 years of previous experience in a Quality Assurance role
- An in-depth understanding of food safety standards and regulations set by the CFIA is considered an asset.
- Work in raw meat processing industry is an asset.
- GMP and/or Food Handling training is an asset.
- Knowledge of HACCP’s principles preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Intermediate skill required for Word and Excel.
- Ability to carry 50Ibs. and work in cold condition.
- Pay Range: $23.00 per hour, plus a $0.50 afternoon shift premium
