Poly-Nova Technologies in Guelph, Ontario is seeking a Quality Engineer to support automotive, power transmission, and life science projects. You will develop inspection standards, lead APQP activities, and collaborate with production to ensure IATF16949, ISO14001, and ISO45001 compliance.

Ideal candidates hold a college or university degree in quality/manufacturing engineering with 2–3 years of automotive quality experience and ASQ certification preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years quality experience in automotive environment.
• ASQ certification preferred.
• Knowledge of APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
• Programming of multiple part-specific programs for engineering and quality department.
• Analyze and solve calibration and measurement problems.
• Assist Quality Manager to ensure conformance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45000 requirements.

QUALITY ENGINEER

Poly-Nova opened in Guelph in 1996. We have a 30,000 square foot manufacturing plant and employ about 150 employees. We produce rubber products for the automotive, power transmission, and life science industries. Our areas of expertise are in rubber molding, material development, engineering, injection molding and over molding.
We were purchased by Starlim Sterner in 2011, market leaders in Silicone Liquid Injection Molding, with the head office in Austria and a manufacturing plant in London Ontario. With the ability to offer rubber and silicone under one company we can expect exceptional growth for the future.

Objectives

• Support customer, supplier and internal departments with technical expertise and quality documentation
• Development/review of APQP documentation including PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans etc.
• Create, design, calibrate and utilize equipment for measurements

Responsibilities

• Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
• Programming of multiple part-specific programs for engineering and quality department
• Analyze and solve calibration and measurement problems
• Measurement and testing using variety of equipment including non-contact OGP, Keyence
• Complete Prototype and PPAP dimensional reports
• Complete capability reports in Minitab
• Completion of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) studies in Minitab
• Schedule internal/external calibration services
• Assist Quality Manager to ensure conformance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45000 requirements
• Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams for testing, continuous improvements, and quality requirements
• Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) Team Member
• Prepare audit reports, charts, and other documentation required for Quality records and projects

Qualifications/ Requirements/ Competencies

• College or University Degree - Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
• 2 to 3 years' Quality experience in the automotive environment
• American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification preferred
• Knowledge of the core quality tools APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA and GD&T
• Proficient with the utilization of SPC and advanced statistical methods
• Knowledge of plastics or rubber injection molding products and processes an asset
• Problem-solving training (Green Belt or industry equivalent)
• Practical Knowledge of plastic/rubber injection molding preferred
• Internal Auditor training in IATF 16949 Quality Management Systems
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and provide solutions to customers
• Written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PPT)
• Eligible to travel with supporting documentation as required (i.e., valid passport, driver's license)
