MasTec Purnell Canada is looking to hire a Quality Control Inspector (Level 2) from Whitecourt and surrounding areas with an immediate start date.

Preference will be given to those living in and around Whitecourt.

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting finished products, materials, and documentation for conformance to company, customer, and government requirements across Alberta sites.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant oil and gas experience is required.
  • CWB Level 2 is required.
  • Certification in a trade or equivalent work experience preferred (e.g., Welding, Pipefitting).

Responsibilities

  • Inspect finished products, materials, and documentation for conformance across sites in Alberta.
  • Create or revise the Inspection & Test Plan and obtain client approval.
  • Ensure compliance with ITPs through welder qualification, traceability, weld mapping, and NDE logs.
  • Prepare and witness test packages and turnover packages.
  • Train staff and subcontractors on quality requirements.
  • Report non-conforming work and maintain project quality plans.

POSITION SUMMARY:

MasTec Purnell Canada is looking to hire a Quality Control Inspector (Level 2) from Whitecourt and surrounding areas with an immediate start date.

Preference will be given to those candidates living in and around Whitecourt.

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting finished products, products being processed, incoming materials, parts, assemblies, and the corresponding documentation for evidencing conformance to company, customer, and government requirements at various sites across Alberta.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform and document inspections and testing for piping/pipelines fabrication/construction to assure compliance with contract documents, codes, standards, regulations, clients’ specifications, and applicable Mastec Canada Quality Manuals.
  • Create or revise the ‘Inspection & Test Plan(s)’ for the project and obtain client approval as applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with the approved ITPs through:
    • Qualification of welders
    • Materials mapping and traceability
    • Weld mapping
    • NDE logging (confirm clearance before pressure testing)
    • Verifying compliance with welding parameters
    • Preparation and witnessing of test packages (hydrotesting/pneumatic testing)
    • Walkdowns
    • Preparation of turnover packages, as required
    • Generation and submission of RFI's
    • Preparation of work packages for Shutdowns and Outages and signoff accordingly
  • Train staff and subcontractors on quality requirements
  • Review codes requirements and ensure compliance through the implementation of the MasTec Purnell Canada Quality Management system
  • Inspect and document the receiving condition of materials and equipment for deficiencies
  • Inspect and document the site storage conditions to confirm compliance with requirements
  • Report and follow-up on non-conforming work and conditions
  • Ensure work conforms to project quality plans and specifications
  • Other duties as required
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Certification in a trade or equivalent work experience, such as Welding, Pipefitting experience is preferred
  • 5 years of relevant oil and gas experience is required
  • Previous experience in dealing with integrity digs is required
  • CWB Level 2 is required

  • Ability to identify and report hazards
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Effective attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules
