Who are we looking for?

Our Toronto office is seeking a QA Compliance Inspector. Reporting to the GHD DRP, the incumbent will supervise the construction or installation of various components to ensure compliance with technical drawings, Toronto Hydro standards, specifications, and applicable Canadian standards following GHD procedures.

The successful candidate will deliver construction verification and audit services, including safety inspections, workmanship evaluations, validation of construction activities for compliance with Toronto Hydro standards and electrical safety, progress reporting, witness testing, and dimensional inspections across different timelines.

Working with a dynamic team, this role offers diverse tasks and involvement in:

Responsibilities :

Pre-Construction

  • Review all construction documentation before pre-job and pre-construction meetings.
  • Lead or participate in pre-job meetings, discussing construction work and safety issues.

In-Construction

  • Conduct daily site audits to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Monitor construction activities for adherence to approved drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain and validate project documentation such as permits and safety assessments.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with laws and guidelines.
  • Perform critical inspections, document findings, and track project progress.
  • Verify materials against specifications and maintain accurate logs.

Monthly Billing and Change Order Verification

  • Verify quantities and progress for payments.
  • Validate measurements and invoices, and follow change order procedures.
  • Review and approve change orders and material compliance.
  • Provide project status updates and participate in meetings.

Safety and Quality Non-Compliance

  • Report non-compliance issues and escalate safety concerns.
  • Support incident reporting and review NCRs.

Close Out

  • Conduct final inspections, document deficiencies, and validate completion.
  • Review as-built drawings and verify documentation.
  • Participate in post-construction reviews and lessons learned.

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain project documents, prepare reports, and coordinate data sharing.
  • Follow up on documentation requirements and support project managers.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Ensure safety and environmental regulations are followed, report incidents, and promote a safe working environment.

Qualifications :

  • Powerline Technician or underground equivalent, with certifications such as Lineman Ontario Provincial Classification, Journeyperson Certificate, or Power Line Technician Red Seal.
  • Over 7 years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to interpret drawings and standards.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
  • Experience with high-voltage tools and urban construction safety.
  • Proficient in QA/QC reporting and project documentation.
