Job summary

Aon in Canada is seeking a Python Developer to design, implement, and maintain Python tools and frameworks that power PathWise actuarial and financial modelling, including templates and reusable components. You will build automation solutions and contribute to the PathWise modelling layer, while supporting ETL-style processing and data flows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of Python software development experience.
• Experience building production-quality Python applications with testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Azure DevOps, and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of NumPy, Pandas, SciPy is a plus.

The salary range for this position is CAD $96,425- 125,000. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

What The Day Will Look Like

• Design, develop, and maintain Python tools, libraries, and frameworks that support PathWise actuarial and financial modelling, including standard templates and reusable components.
• Build and enhance automation solutions for model implementation and DevOps processes, simplifying workflows for modelling actuaries and other non-developer users.
• Contribute to the development of the PathWise Python modelling layer, including standard classes and templates used to orchestrate models, control data flows, and perform ETL-style processing.
• Develop and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines, utilities, and engineering tools that improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of PathWise-related solutions.
• Apply and promote software quality practices, including maintainable design, unit testing, code reviews, and use of CI/CD pipelines.
• Partner with actuarial, technology, and business teams to understand requirements, solve complex challenges, and deliver practical, well-engineered solutions.
• Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle in an Agile environment.

Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience developing software products, tools, or applications using Python.
• Experience building maintainable, tested, production-quality Python applications or libraries.
• Strong proficiency in Python; experience with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy is an asset.
• Familiarity with unit testing, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and software quality practices.
• Hands-on experience working within DevOps processes, including implementing or managing automated build, test, and deployment workflows (e.g., in Azure DevOps).
• Experience working in Agile environments and across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, and Git.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across actuarial, technology, and business teams.
• Experience in actuarial, financial services, insurance, or quantitative modelling environments is an asset.
• Exposure to cloud technologies, High-Performance Computing (HPC), automation tools, or AI/ML is beneficial but not required.
