Job description

AI Developer – Actuarial Tools & Automation (PathWise)

Role Type: New position

As an AI Developer – Actuarial Tools & Automation (PathWise) within Aon Life Solutions, you will help design, develop, and deliver innovative Generative AI solutions that support actuarial modelling and business decision‑making. Working closely with actuaries, product managers, and technology professionals, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical implementation—translating actuarial use cases into practical AI tools and automated workflows built on Aon’s high‑performance PathWise actuarial modelling platform.

You will spend much of your time building Python‑based AI solutions, while also engaging with actuarial modellers and other partners to understand requirements, shape use cases, and support testing, deployment, and adoption of the tools you help create.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or work permit.

The salary range for this position is {CAD $96,425 - CAD 125,400}. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

AI Agents, Prototyping & Development

  • Design, develop, and test GenAI‑powered solutions in Python to support PathWise model design, build, testing, and documentation activities.
  • Contribute to the implementation of RAG‑based solutions, including document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, retrieval strategies, and prompt development.
  • Build, refine, and evaluate prompts, tools, and workflows to improve the effectiveness and usability of AI applications for actuarial modellers.
  • Help turn successful AI prototypes into reliable, production‑ready tools and automation, in close collaboration with core development and infrastructure teams.
  • Support testing activities by measuring solution performance, identifying areas for improvement, and documenting findings.
  • Evaluate AI solutions for accuracy, reliability, security, and responsible use, calling out issues and recommendations to senior team members as needed.

Business Analysis & Actuarial Partnering

  • Collaborate with actuaries and other business partners to gain insight into modelling workflows, problems, and AI opportunities across the PathWise ecosystem.
  • Help translate actuarial and business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications for AI tools and automation.
  • Participate in discovery sessions, backlog refinement, and design discussions to prioritise impactful use cases and shape solution scope.
  • Contribute to user‑centric design by gathering feedback, refining requirements, and iterating on features based on feedback from PathWise users.

Governance, Safety & Best Practices

  • Follow established AI governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Assist in implementing monitoring, evaluation, and observability practices for AI solutions, with an appreciation of actuarial model governance needs.
  • Ensure responsible use of AI technologies and proper documentation of models, data flows, and workflows.

Collaboration

  • Partner with actuaries, PathWise users, product managers, and development teams to deliver innovative AI solutions that enhance actuarial modelling and analysis.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, design discussions, testing, and code reviews.
