Job summary

Kumaran Systems in Canada is seeking a senior backend Python engineer to design, build and operate scalable services on Linux. You will craft production-grade Python software, expose robust APIs, and collaborate with DevOps for deployment and security.

You bring 7+ years of Python experience, deep Linux skills, and a disciplined approach to testing, packaging and CI/CD. This role demands hands-on leadership in complex backend systems and a commitment to reliable, observable software.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of production Python development (3.9+).
• Deep understanding of sudo and /etc/sudoers — privilege delegation, security implications.
• Proficient in Bash scripting, cron, logrotate and SSH-based automation.
• REST API frameworks: FastAPI, Flask or Django REST Framework.
• Oracle database experience — PL/SQL, stored procedures, query tuning; cx_Oracle / oracledb driver and SQLAlchemy ORM.
• Virtual environments, pip / poetry, packaging and dependency hygiene.
• Git-based workflows and code-review discipline.

Responsibilities
