Job summary

SPECTRAFORCE is seeking a senior security-focused engineer to design and deliver RESTful APIs for cryptographic automation. The role emphasizes Python/FastAPI development, API orchestration, and ongoing support across ServiceNow, CLM, and KMS integrations.

Hybrid work arrangement, 2 days onsite in Canada (Markham or Toronto) with security expertise and strong communication skills. 8+ years in security tech and 5+ years in Python are expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of security-related technology experience.
• 5+ years of Python, specifically FastAPI.
• 3+ years of automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs using Python/FastAPI that serve as the orchestration layer for certificate or key lifecycle workflows.
• Integrate the API Gateway with upstream/downstream systems: ServiceNow, CLM, KMS and other DevOps platforms.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and documentation of API contracts.
• Develop unit tests and integration tests.
• Provide L3 support and production troubleshooting.

Duration: 1 year (Possibility of extension/conversion)

Location: Markham, Ontario or Toronto (Markham is the preferred location as the manager sits there)

Hybrid – 2 days onsite

Degree/Level of Education: Post secondary is an asset

Certifications Required: CISSP is an asset

Years of Overall Experience: 8+ years of experience

The Crypto Automation Team is responsible for designing, developing and deploying enterprise cryptographic automation solution. The team plays a critical role in safeguarding organizational data and systems by delivering secure, scalable, and automated cryptographic services. This includes automating key management, certificate lifecycle management, encryption processes, and other cryptographic operations to improve efficiency, reliability, and the organization's overall security posture.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs using Python/FastAPI that serve as the orchestration layer for certificate or key lifecycle workflows

MUST-HAVE Hard Skills:

• 1.) 8+ years of security related technology experience
• 2.) 5+ years of strong professional experience with Python, specifically FastAPI.
• 3.) 3+ years of experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent platforms.

SOFT SKILLS:

• 1.) Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• 2.) Strong time management, priority management skills
• 3.) Attention to detail and someone who is a self-starter and adaptable

NICE-TO-HAVE

• 1.) Familiarity with TLS/SSL certificate management and PKI concepts (issuance, renewal, revocation)
• 2.) Exposure to Venafi, HashiCorp Vault, CyberArk, or similar PKI/secrets management tools
• 3.) Experience with ServiceNow integrations (CMDB, workflow automation)
• 4.) Experience supporting Linux and/or Windows server environments
• 5.) Venafi Rest API experience (strong asset)
