The Purchasing Technician supports the food manufacturing procurement team by sourcing, ordering, and tracking raw materials, packaging supplies, and other operational goods. This role is essential in maintaining the flow of materials necessary for continuous production, ensuring food safety compliance, and optimizing supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and familiar with procurement in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process purchase orders for ingredients, packaging materials, sanitation supplies, and other production-related items.
- Ensure all purchases meet food safety standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, SQF) and company quality specifications.
- Track deliveries and coordinate with warehouse and production teams to ensure timely receipt of goods.
- Assist in managing inventory levels and reorder points for raw materials and supplies.
- Verify pricing, delivery terms, and resolve invoice or order discrepancies with vendors and payables.
- Work closely with QA/QC, production, and warehouse teams to align purchasing activities with production schedules.
- Support audits and maintain documentation required for food safety and regulatory compliance.
- Evaluate supplier performance related to quality, reliability, and cost.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or food science preferred.
- 3-5 years of purchasing experience in food manufacturing or a similar regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, SQF, etc.).
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel - Intermediate, Outlook).
- Strong communication and organizational skills in French and English.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with inventory control and vendor management.

- Évaluer la performance des fournisseurs en termes de qualité, fiabilité, et coût.
