The Opportunity

APEX is currently accepting applications for a Purchasing Specialist to join our Aerospace Component Manufacturing Group. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this position will be responsible for the tactical procurement of commodities, raw materials, supplies, equipment, and services used within the group. The role also involves building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, managing their performance, and ensuring procurement goals are met. Some weekend or overtime work may be required, and training will be provided.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and evaluate the purchasing activities of the group.
  • Maintain and develop purchasing policies and procedures to conduct strategic forecasting and ensure adequate inventory of materials to meet production requirements.
  • Conduct contract negotiations to secure favorable pricing while meeting quality and specifications. This may include long-term purchase agreements for raw materials and negotiations with transportation agencies (e.g., FedEx, Midland).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and purchasing agents, and manage their performance (e.g., price, quality, on-time delivery).
  • Monitor and review supplier performance indicators (e.g., pricing, delivery, quality).
  • Produce RFQs and Purchase Orders.
  • Update and maintain the approved suppliers list within our Quality Management System and conduct supplier evaluations.
  • Handle all non-conformances effectively.
