There is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to join the constructionteam in Vancouver as a Purchasing Manager. This role will be responsible for implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs), supporting system integration, training internal stakeholders, and launching the centralized purchasing function. This role will also ensure compliance, cost control, and reporting transparency across all purchasing activities

Looking for someone who is a strong communicator, is able to work effectively with superintendents, project managers, vendors, and accountants. Someone who has an eye for detail, and extremely organized and thrives in a fast-paced work environment and is excited to implement and establish a new purchasing system to streamline efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Implementation

  • Help senior management in implementation, and rollout of a centralized purchasing desk across all construction projects
  • Establish clear and efficient standard operating procedures (SOPs) for purchasing, and PO processing which can be done via phone, form or directly through Accumatica
  • Collaborate with site staff to integrate new purchasing workflows
  • Develop training materials and deliver onboarding sessions for project teams

Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the validation, approval, and issuance of POs based on RFPOs (Request for Purchase Orders) from field teams.
  • Ensure POs align with pre-negotiated supplier pricing and verify commitments against approved job cost (JC) budgets.
  • Manage processes for sourcing non-inventory items, initiating budget revisions, and updating supplier records as needed.
  • Review and analyze open POs monthly in collaboration with Project Managers and ensure timely closeout of committed costs.

Supplier & Pricing Strategy

  • Build and maintain a preferred supplier database with standardized inventory, competitive pricing, and negotiated terms.
  • Develop pricing benchmarks, initiate supplier bids, and update cost lists to ensure ongoing purchasing value.

Change Order Monitoring

  • Implement a centralized tracking system for pending change orders across projects.
  • Ensure timely collection and entry of all supporting documentation into appropriate systems (e.g., accumatica).
  • Facilitate regular review of pending change orders with Project Managers and VPs, ensuring visibility and approval at least monthly.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing procurement systems or centralized purchasing functions.
  • Strong working knowledge of procurement processes, job cost tracking, and supplier management.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and training skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and procurement/accounting software systems – knowledge of Accumatica a strong asset
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
