Job summary

Texcan invites applications for a Purchasing & Inventory Management Associate. You will manage branch stock levels, purchase orders, and pricing analysis to support demand and company goals.

Using ERP and BI tools, you will optimize inventory performance, maintain data integrity, and collaborate with vendors, AP, and sales teams to ensure accuracy and timely decisions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5+ years in purchasing, inventory, or procurement.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to build reports.
  • Experience with ERP and BI reporting tools preferred.
  • Analytical mindset with data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inventory levels for branch stock and customer orders.
  • Review stock levels, EOQ, order points, and replenishment.
  • Issue POs, communicate with vendors, and handle EDI
  • Monitor pricing, PPVs, and data integrity in systems.
  • Collaborate with AP, sales, and branches to resolve issues.
  • Support promotions, inventory rotations, and reductions of excess stock.
  • Analyze inventory performance with ERP/BI tools and report findings.
  • Identify root causes of issues and drive resolutions.

Scope of Position

The Purchasing & Inventory Management Associate is responsible for inventory planning, purchasing, and pricing analysis to support customer demand and business objectives. Through data analysis and technology, this role optimizes inventory performance, supports strategic purchasing initiatives, maintains data integrity, and identifies opportunities to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.

Responsibilities
  • Manage inventory levels and purchasing for branch stock and customer orders, ensuring optimal inventory turns while meeting customer demand.
  • Review stock-out, replenishment, and inventory planning reports, including line points, order points, EOQs, and parameter maintenance.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, vendor communications, order confirmations, and EDI transactions.
  • Monitor pricing, quotes, purchase price variances (PPVs), supersessions, and database integrity.
  • Collaborate with vendors, Accounts Payable, branch teams, and other key stakeholders to resolve issues and support business needs.
  • Support promotional buys, inventory rotations, and initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Manage customer-owned inventory programs, including coordinating internal transfers, site setup, purchase order creation, material receipts, and collaboration with Sales to ensure accurate billing and inventory tracking.
  • Conduct pricing analysis and support strategic purchasing decisions through data-driven recommendations and market insight.
  • Investigate inventory, purchasing, pricing, and system-related issues, independently identifying root causes and driving resolutions through to completion.
  • Leverage ERP, BI, and reporting tools to analyze inventory performance, purchasing trends, and operational metrics, partnering with the Business Intelligence team to support reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Navigate and adapt to evolving systems and technologies, identifying opportunities to improve processes, data accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required
  • Supply Chain certification, APICS, Operations or other related an asset
  • Advanced Microsoft Office required
  • 3–5+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, supply chain, or procurement.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Ability to leverage business intelligence (BI) tools and collaborate with analytics teams to interpret data and drive decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions independently.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Professional, customer-focused approach and strong collaboration skills.
