Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of purchasing/procurement experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase products, materials and services with optimal pricing and delivery.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to determine purchasing requirements and maintain inventory levels.
  • Evaluate suppliers, negotiate pricing and contracts, and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and expeditie orders for timely delivery.
  • Verify shipments against POs and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Collect and summarize purchasing data for planning and forecasting.
  • Develop negotiation strategies to maximize value and align with objectives.

Job description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support our growing procurement and supply chain operations. This role is responsible for the tactical procurement of commodities, supplier relationship management, inventory coordination, and ensuring the timely availability of materials required to meet business demands. The successful candidate will have strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of purchasing processes, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • – Source and purchase products, materials, and services while ensuring optimal pricing, quality, and delivery performance.
  • – Coordinate with internal departments to determine purchasing requirements and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • – Evaluate suppliers, negotiate pricing and contracts, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • – Maintain vendor pricing databases and monitor market trends.
  • – Review purchase requisitions, verify specifications, and recommend alternatives when required.
  • – Prepare and issue purchase orders while monitoring and expediting orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • – Verify shipments received against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with suppliers.
  • – Process returns, authorize payments through receiving documentation, and maintain accurate purchasing records.
  • – Collect, analyze, and summarize purchasing data to support planning, forecasting, and inventory control initiatives.
  • – Develop and implement effective negotiation strategies to maximize value and support organizational objectives.
Education
  • – Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • – Advanced degree (MSc/MA) considered an asset.
Experience
  • – 3 to 5 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or related experience.
  • – Experience within a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies
  • – Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • – Knowledge of procurement best practices, market research, and supplier development.
  • – Understanding of logistics, importation, and customs procedures.
  • – Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and purchasing software.
  • – Experience using ERP systems.
  • – Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • – Ability to build productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
