Job description

We are currently seeking a Full time Purchasing Agent to join our team!

In this position, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for placing and expediting POs, managing inventory at an acceptable level, maintaining information in the ERP system, and providing product information to the sales and customer service teams as required. This position works closely with all departments including operations and accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve relationships with suppliers and colleagues
  • Issue and expedite purchase orders
  • Resolve invoicing discrepancies
  • Resolve supplier shipping errors
  • Maintain acceptable inventory levels
  • Monitor fill rates and backorders
  • Maintain system data as it relates to products and purchase orders (PO due dates, order controls, pricing, etc.)
  • Work with other branches/departments to ensure information is accessible to the sales team
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Previous purchasing experience in a distribution environment preferred
  • Post-Secondary Education in a related field preferred
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Strong computer skills, previous ERP experience required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required
