Job summary

FPS Food Process Solutions Corporation, a global leader in turn-key food freezing and cooling equipment, seeks an experienced Purchaser to join our Richmond-based team.

You will work with engineers to issue POs, confirm deliveries, monitor supplier performance, and maintain raw material stock for current and upcoming projects, with SAP knowledge preferred.

Applicants should have at least 2 years purchasing experience in manufacturing and be able to work independently while meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Purchasing experience within a manufacturing setting.
• Interpret technical drawings and have electrical engineering knowledge.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Familiar with ERP systems such as SAP.
• Strong English communication skills; Chinese language is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Issue purchase orders to suppliers based on engineer input.
• Confirm delivery schedules with suppliers and update project teams.
• Monitor supplier delivery performance and flag delays.
• Review inventory status for raw materials and maintain safety stock.
• Forecast component usage and place bulk orders.
• Review quotations for subcontracting processes.
• Source reliable suppliers for production tools and machines.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs with suppliers.
• Occasionally source and purchase urgent parts.
• Perform other duties as required.

You will work with an established team of engineers and designers to serve our clients on current and upcoming projects.

Position Scope

FPS is a global leader in turn-key food freezing and cooling equipment, serving clients across five continents. Due to our rapid expansion, we have an immediate opening for an experienced Purchaser. You will work with an established team of engineers and designers to serve our clients on current and upcoming projects.

Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering Department and issue PO to suppliers based on information from Engineers
• Confirm delivery schedule with suppliers and update project teams about delivery status
• Monitor supplier delivery performance and alert project teams or production of late shipments
• Review inventory status for raw materials and maintain safety stock level
• Forecast electrical components usage and place bulk forecast orders
• Review quotations for the subcontracting process
• Source for reliable suppliers for production tools and machines
• Contact suppliers for machine maintenance and repairs as required
• Occasionally go out to source and purchase urgent parts
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Purchasing experience within a manufacturing setting
• Possess electrical engineering knowledge and able to interpret technical drawings
• Work independently and effectively to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP is preferable
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
• Chinese language skills are considered an asset.
