Position: Purchaser - 6 Month Contract
Job Overview:
This position achieves the Genuine Merchant Strategy by ensuring the procurement of all required supplies and inventory items in a timely manner in collaboration with the production team’s needs. Uses forecasting and other computer-based ordering and inventory tools to order and schedule deliveries based on the required production days. Work in collaboration with inventory team in counting, inventory control and inventory adjustments.
Accountabilities:
Logistics and Purchasing
- Prioritize and balance workload to achieve inbound operational goals.
- Manage and schedule inbound shipments through regular communication with vendors and/or carriers on appointment scheduler system. Maintaining, tracking and auditing of daily vendor compliance tracker.
- Ensure that shipments are received according to open purchase orders or alternate verification methods as appropriate.
- Ensure all inbound POs are closed, and daily billing is accurate.
- Work with DC support to investigate and resolve, validate any discrepancies on a timely basis.
- Hold Vendors accountable for timing and quality accuracy.
- Daily inspections of returns area to ensure proper process are being followed.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with the drivers, shippers and receivers through professional and timely communications and inquiry responses.
- Work closely and communicate with CK WHSE Team Member’s on rotation, inbound scheduling, product levels, procurement status and return.
- Quality Assurance/Vendor liaison for any issues/concerns and must address in a timely manner.
- Execute all purchase orders and manage billing.
- Maintain optimal inventory on warehouse stocked items by managing the product order cycles and executing purchase orders, when appropriate
- Investigate low stock alerts, vendor shorts and out of stocks and take corrective action.
- Maintain 100% accurate cost, retail, and product information, complete all inputs for vendor price increases.
- Liaise with all suppliers involved to ensure accurate information is provided for the maintenance data.
- Help support new vendor listings whenever needed. Work with Culinary Innovation Manager with coordination of new products, including timely addition to system and warehouse.
Department Cleanliness and Presentation:
Responsible for overall department cleanliness and presentation by:
- Adhering to food safety standards.
- Ensuring the First In, First Out (FIFO) method is being used when supplying inventory to production, taking inventory, and making purchases.
- Adhering to proper sanitization and cleaning procedures.
Health and Safety:
- Promotes and endorses Safety Vision “Safety is our way of life.”
- Adhering to all health and workplace safety standards and policies.
- Observes and support Longo’s Safe Work guidelines and other safe work practices.
- Role models the importance of health and safety by always working safely, calling out and addressing any safety issues.
- Recognizes risks which may pose a danger to Team Members and customers and resolves such issues (where possible) or modifies work, mitigating the risk to Team Member/customer until resolution can be sourced and implemented.
Forecasting and Analysis
- Monitors and analyzes consumption rates on an ongoing basis with special attention to peak times and drops (i.e. holidays, changes in season, ads, and special promotions, etc.)
- Monitors and analyzes the results of implementation of pricing on an ongoing basis.
- Monitors compliance to the business processes.
- Helps identify opportunities for price adjustment based on the market.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- 2-5 years of inbound logistics and purchasing experience is preferred and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction is essential.
- Related University or College degree.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems.
- Excellent organization, planning, and communication skills.
- Innovative problem solving and sound decision-making abilities.
- Strong computer skills required, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Acts with a sense of urgency and self-direction within established guidelines.
- Experience in the retail food industry is highly desirable.
- 3 years’ experience in analysis and forecasting.
- Ability to forecast accurately based on previous performance and current market trends.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of retail pricing.
- Financial Analysis knowledge needed.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a mixture of a standard warehouse environment and office environment.
- Job is performed on premise.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities with regular deadlines.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including - evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs require.
