SSR Mining – Seabee Gold Operation is hiring for a Purchaser.

About Your New Role:

Reporting to the Superintendent, Supply Chain, the Purchaser will be responsible for tactical procurement actions related to purchase of all labor, equipment, materials and services needed for the Seabee site. They will ensure the timely placement and follow up of purchase order deliveries to ensure effective flow of goods and services to the mine site to meet end user requirements and maintain stock inventory levels.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all day-to-day actions with supply chain vendors for materials, equipment, or supplies.
  • Conduct sourcing and obtain quotations as required for site needs (periodic or real-time).
  • Process purchase requisitions into purchase orders following the appropriate sourcing strategy.
  • Follow up delivery of issued purchase orders and track back orders until full delivery.
  • Track, expedite purchase orders, manage delays in lead time, and communicate with end users.
  • Facilitate supplier payments and resolve invoice issues with AP finance, suppliers and end users.
  • Identify issues with issued purchase orders and collaborate with the site team to resolve them, especially concerning price changes, discontinued, updated and long lead time materials.
  • Review open Purchase Orders and execute actions to close redundant transactions.
  • Optimize the purchasing function through actions to improve cost, delivery, and quality.
  • Provide insights into appropriate suppliers for parts and services to support sourcing strategies.
  • Execute all actions required to maintain vendor information and established sourcing strategies up to date in SAP including Fixed pricing agreements and contracts.
  • Communicate with warehouse personnel to deal with inventory-related issues such as stock outs, incorrect deliveries or damaged items.
  • Conduct all actions in line with SSR Mining procurement policies and procedures.

Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • Microsoft Word and Excel, and other computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Handle multiple priorities with high level of accuracy.
  • Work independently and within a team environment.
  • Function effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Maintain utmost professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with purchasing processes using an ERP (preferably SAP).

Your Education and Experience:

  • Diploma in Supply chain, business, commerce or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience of related purchasing experience.

About Our Working Conditions:

This position has a schedule of 4 days on, 3 days off at our remote camp with the possibility of unscheduled overtime required on occasion. You will be required to fly in fly out of the site on designated days from a pick-up point in either Saskatoon, Prince Albert or La Ronge.
