Reporting to the Supply Chain Management Lead (Calgary), the Purchaser is based out of the Calgary Office. This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective procurement of materials and services for our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supply chain management, and a strong background in the construction industry.

What You Will Be Working On

  1. Source, negotiate, and purchase MRO materials, equipment, and services for projects.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and favorable terms.
  3. Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and lead time.
  4. Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance and manage necessary changes.
  5. Utilize Viewpoint for managing purchase orders and maintaining accurate procurement records.
  6. Ensure all purchasing activities are documented in Viewpoint and align with company policies.
  7. Analyze market trends for opportunities in cost savings and process improvements.
  8. Conduct cost analysis and risk assessments for MRO supply needs.
  9. Monitor and control procurement budgets, focusing on MRO supplies.
  10. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and safety requirements.
  11. Assess and mitigate risks within the MRO supply chain.
  12. Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to resolve material quality or supply issues.
  13. Maintain procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements specific to MRO.
  14. Prepare and present reports on MRO procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
  15. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to schedule and forecast MRO material and equipment needs.
  16. Manage and maintain strong supplier relationships, addressing any issues and promoting continuous improvement.
  17. Create accurate purchase orders and procurement documents for MRO-related purchases.
  18. Implement procurement strategies to meet the operational and project requirements related to MRO.
  19. Maintain supplier performance metrics focused on MRO materials and services.
  20. Assist the Estimating team with RFX packages for proposal pricing related to MRO supplies.
  21. Coordinate and communicate with site teams to ensure that MRO procurement needs are met.

What We Are Looking For

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. SMT (Supply Management Training) or SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) designation is highly desirable, or enrollment in the SCMP program is considered an asset.
  3. 5-7 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field, with a preference for experience in MRO procurement.
  4. Familiarity with MRO materials, equipment, and industry standards.
  5. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  6. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio).
  8. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  9. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and track orders.
  10. Effective communication skills.
  11. Ability to resolve disputes or issues with suppliers during the procurement process.
  12. In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and best practices related to MRO materials.
  13. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  14. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
