Job summary

The City of Dawson is seeking applications for the position of Public Works Hand. Reporting to the Public Works Supervisor, the Public Works Hand is jointly responsible for the day-to-day labour required by the Public Works Department to ensure delivery of service to the public.

This union position offers a salary in the level 3 range with a comprehensive benefits package; flexibility in hours and a strong emphasis on teamwork and safety are expected.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or GED is required for the role.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and drawings is needed.
• A valid health and safety oriented certification footprint is preferred.

• Assist with water and sewer pipe installation and maintenance.
• Support road and building maintenance duties.
• Operate a backhoe/loader and related equipment.
