Job summary

The City of Dawson, Yukon is seeking a Public Works Hand to assist with day-to-day labor across municipal maintenance tasks. You will support water and sewer work, road upkeep, and building maintenance while following WHMIS and safety standards. The role requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays and strong practical skills.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 or equivalent and computer literacy.
• Certification in Confined Space Entry and WHMIS required.
• Experience in water/wastewater and road/building maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform range of operational and maintenance tasks per manuals and drawings.
• Assist with water distribution and wastewater maintenance, water/sewer piping.
• Support road maintenance and building upkeep across carpentry, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Operate municipal equipment (backhoe/loader) per safety training.
• Interpret manuals, drawings, and work orders.
• Maintain safety and confidentiality; work independently or in a team.
