Job summary

Quinte West is seeking an Equipment Operator to maintain the municipal road system and related properties. You will operate heavy equipment, perform safety inspections, and support day-to-day road maintenance under the Supervisor of Roads.

Responsibilities include winter control, traffic control, and roadside upkeep, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. Regular outside work and potential night shifts may occur.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class D Driver's Licence with Z endorsement and a clean driver's abstract.
• Experience operating multiple heavy equipment pieces on municipal roads is required.
• Ability to work after-hours, weekends and in winter conditions as needed.
• Proven public relations and customer service skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy trucks and snow plows and other municipal equipment safely.
• Perform pre-use inspections, maintenance checks and log books.
• Respond to call-ins and emergencies as directed by supervision.
• Provide winter control, traffic control and roadside maintenance.
• Complete reports and daily records for management.
