Job Title: Public Works Coordinator
Location: Inwood, Manitoba and surrounding areas
Job Type: Full-Time with opportunity for overtime, up to 50 hours per week in summer. Hours vary during winter months.
The Rural Municipality of Armstrong is currently seeking a Full-Time Public Works Coordinator who will be responsible for the direction, coordination, efficient operation, repair, and general maintenance of all municipal infrastructure and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and oversee public works projects and daily maintenance activities.
· Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as tractors, mowers, and loaders.
· Perform seasonal maintenance including grass cutting at various municipal locations.
· Install, repair, and haul culverts as needed.
· Install and maintain road signs.
· Conduct gravel road inspections and reporting.
· Perform general repairs and maintenance on municipal buildings and property.
· Use various power tools and equipment safely and effectively.
· Clear snow from sidewalks, parking lots, and municipal pathways.
· Measure and mark areas for dust control and place road flagging where required.
· Provide support to Waste Transfer Stations and Waste Disposal Grounds as required.
· Work with contracted Surveyor to coordinate on drainage issues throughout the Municipality.
· Manage the water license applications for the Municipality.
· Work with Contractors to coordinate snow clearing, gravel application, and grading of municipal roads. This would also include culvert replacements and other drainage related issues.
· Ensure Municipality meets Provincial licensing requirements and knowing what the requirements are.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the CAO.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent is required.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction, public works, or maintenance roles.
· Proficient in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment (e.g. truck, grader, tractor, mower, tandem truck, etc.).
· Valid Manitoba Driver’s License class 3 is required.
· Microsoft Office including Outlook, and computer skills for communication. Excel.
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
· Ability to supervise and direct other staff and contractors when necessary.
· Knowledge of safety procedures and municipal infrastructure best practices is an asset.
Working Conditions:
· Frequent physical labour including bending, lifting (up to 50lbs.), pushing, and pulling.
· Work is performed outdoors year-round in various weather conditions (e.g. heat, rain, snow, etc.).
· May be required to respond to emergency situations on infrastructure issues outside of regular hours.
