The City of Lenexa is currently accepting applications for an Asset Manager to join our Public Works team.

Position Summary

The Asset Manager oversees and coordinates the development, implementation and optimization of the asset management program for municipal infrastructure. This role ensures that assets such as streets, storm water systems, traffic control devices, fleet and facilities are effectively managed to optimize their lifecycle, enhance service delivery and align with organizational goals. The Asset Manager works collaboratively with various stakeholders within the City to prioritize projects, ensure regulatory compliance and maintain data integrity. The work is performed under the general direction of the Municipal Services Department with a wide degree of independence. This is a leadership position and will supervise the Public Works GIS Technician.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Oversight
  • Develop, implement and manage the asset management program, including policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for asset performance, maintenance and operational efficiency.
  • Develop long-term strategic plans for asset management, incorporating condition assessments, risk management and financial forecasting.
  • Assist supervisors, managers and superintendents with configuring of system modules, developing reports and data collection that support asset management procedures and processes.
  • Data Management and Analysis
  • Oversee the collection, management and analysis of asset data to support decision-making. Implement and manage asset management software systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Perform data-driven evaluations to prioritize maintenance, repairs and capital improvement projects.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work with internal departments, consultants and external agencies to coordinate asset management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with all City departments to ensure alignment between asset strategies, operational activities and program goals and priorities.
  • Serve as the principal trainer and point of contact for work and asset computer applications. Develop training materials and reference guides for employees.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards and guidelines for public works infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential asset failures and service disruptions.
  • Drives City and/or personal vehicle to perform essential functions of position.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geography, public administration, business management, environmental studies or related field, plus 2-3 years asset management, GIS, public works or infrastructure management, OR High School diploma or G.E.D. plus 5-6 years experience in asset management, GIS, public works or infrastructure management.

Environmental and Physical Factors

This position requires the ability to collect asset information in an outdoor setting. The position will frequently require the ability to traverse and work on uneven terrain and in various weather conditions. Mobility is also required to work at computer stations located throughout the City. Other requirements include the ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity and accommodation to review alpha/numeric data.

Compensation range is$71,705 to $83,216dependent on qualifications and directly related experience. In addition to competitive compensation packages, the City of Lenexa offers comprehensive benefits including:
