Job summary

Marberg Staffing seeks a Senior Financial Accountant to support a provincial government organization in downtown Toronto. This temporary role offers a hybrid work arrangement with potential onsite movement and two independent initial terms.

The position reports to the Controller and requires leading close processes, financial reporting, budgeting support, and ERP-related improvements while ensuring PSAS/GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience within a public sector environment.
• Strong knowledge of PSAS, GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and variances for leadership.
• Support audits and external reporting in alignment with PSAS/GAAP.
• Assist ERP implementation, data migration, testing, and user training.
• Develop robust financial procedures and internal controls.
• Provide accounting guidance to leadership on treasury, funding models, and strategy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to improve processes and reporting.
