Job summary

Qualifications

  • Degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in public relations, media relations, corporate communications, social media, or related field.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic communications programs within a complex global organization, preferably in professional services, engineering, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of media relations, reputation management, corporate communications, digital communications, and social media strategy.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and content development skills.
  • Proven experience developing a wide range of communications materials, including media materials, executive communications, social media content, thought leadership, and corporate messaging.
  • Experience managing communications projects involving multiple stakeholders, priorities, and approval processes.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, content strategy, community engagement, analytics, and emerging trends.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Global Director, Public Relations.
  • Develop and execute public relations and social media strategies aligned with corporate priorities, business objectives, and Hatch's brand positioning.
  • Work closely with business leaders, technical experts, and marketing teams to identify and promote stories that showcase Hatch's expertise, innovation, project successes, and purpose.
  • Manage external communications programs from planning through implementation, including timelines, approvals, stakeholder coordination, and performance measurement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media, industry publications, influencers, and other external stakeholders to increase awareness of Hatch and its capabilities.
  • Develop and distribute media materials including news releases, media advisories, fact sheets, executive messaging, briefing materials, Q&A documents, and thought leadership content.
  • Lead proactive and reactive media relations activities, including media outreach, interview coordination, spokesperson preparation, and issues management support.
  • Manage Hatch's corporate social media presence and support regional and business-specific social media initiatives.
  • Develop social media content calendars and oversee the creation of content optimized for various platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging channels.
  • Monitor social media trends, emerging issues, and industry conversations while identifying opportunities to increase engagement and visibility.
  • Measure, analyze, and report on media relations and social media performance, providing recommendations based on insights, best practices, and industry benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with digital, design, and marketing teams to support integrated campaigns and ensure consistency across communication channels.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen Hatch's reputation through strategic communications, partnerships, and participation in industry events and forums.
  • Support crisis communications planning and execution, including media monitoring, issue assessment, stakeholder communications, and response development.
  • Develop and promote public relations best practices, governance processes, and social media guidelines across the organization.
  • Mentor and collaborate with communications specialists and marketing colleagues while helping to build communications capabilities across the business.

The Public Relations and Social Media Manager is responsible for developing and implementing integrated public relations, corporate communications, and social media strategies that strengthen Hatch's reputation and support business objectives globally. The role works closely with business leaders, subject matter experts, and regional communications teams to identify compelling stories, manage reputational opportunities and risks, and elevate Hatch's visibility across earned and owned channels.

This is a strategic and hands-on role requiring a communications professional who can translate complex technical, business, and societal topics into engaging content that resonates with media, clients, partners, employees, and other key stakeholders. Base salary range: $90-000-115,000

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
