Job summary

Hatch is seeking a seasoned project delivery professional in Mississauga to lead complex engineering and construction initiatives within mining, energy and infrastructure. You will coordinate with stakeholders, guide scope definition, verify site data, and resolve design conflicts to ensure safe, timely project outcomes.

You will drive constructability input, support QA/QC, review technical documentation, and lead cross-functional teams through procurement, field execution, and turnover.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum five years of experience in project delivery, operations, construction, or engineering environments with cross-functional leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong commitment to safety and a safety-focused culture.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to develop practical and timely solutions to complex field and project issues.
  • Experience building relationships with project teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, engineering teams, contractors, and owner representatives to understand project requirements and priorities.
  • Develop and refine project scope and definition.
  • Verify site conditions, field data, and infrastructure constraints.
  • Identify and resolve cross-disciplinary design conflicts within engineering deliverables.
  • Provide constructability input and support field execution activities.
  • Review QA/QC documentation, tests, and inspection records.
  • Provide technical guidance to construction management and site supervision teams.
  • Support technical bid evaluations and procurement activities.
  • Develop and issue technical specifications and field instructions.
  • Review vendor and contractor deliverables and turnover packages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, engineering teams, contractors, and owner representatives to understand project requirements and priorities.
  • Participate in the development and refinement of project scope and definition.
  • Verify site conditions, field data, and existing infrastructure constraints.
  • Identify, manage, and resolve cross-disciplinary design conflicts and interface issues within engineering deliverables, including drawings and specifications.
  • Provide constructability input and support field execution activities, including assessment of work scope, construction sequencing, schedule impacts, and cost considerations.
  • Review contractor construction work packages (CWPs), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and related technical submissions.
  • Provide technical support to Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) teams.
  • Review and approve quality-related documentation, test reports, and inspection records as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to construction management and site supervision teams.
  • Support technical bid evaluations and provide recommendations during procurement activities.
  • Develop, review, and issue technical specifications, construction work packages, and field instructions.
  • Review vendor and contractor deliverables, including as-built documentation and turnover packages.
  • Coordinate third-party inspections and regulatory reviews with consultants, contractors, and applicable authorities.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain field sketches, markups, redlines, and technical documentation.
  • Manage and maintain site drawings, engineering records, document registers, and project files.
  • Review contract documents within the assigned area of responsibility, identify discrepancies, and recommend resolutions.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with approved designs, engineering standards, specifications, codes, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews, and stage-gate/tollgate reviews.
  • Conduct technical reviews during substantial completion, commissioning support, and final project closeout activities.
Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in project delivery, operations, construction, or engineering environments with demonstrated cross-functional leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong commitment to safety and proven ability to promote a safety-focused culture.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to develop practical and timely solutions to complex field and project issues.
  • Experience building effective working relationships with project teams, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, construction, and project execution processes, including interfaces and dependencies.
  • Broad knowledge of applicable industry standards, codes, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure project environments.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Customer and service-oriented mindset with a focus on project success.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment, labor productivity, scheduling, and cost management principles.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting large-scale industrial, mining, metals, energy, or infrastructure projects.
  • Field engineering, construction management, owner's engineer, or commissioning experience.
  • Experience working on brownfield and greenfield capital projects.

Base salary range: $115,000 - $165,000

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include
