The Public Health Physician provides medical leadership within the Immunization Programs and Vaccine Preventable Disease Services (IPVPDS) team and works closely with the Senior and Senior Practice Leader. Reporting to the Medical Director, this role involves providing medical expertise for the assessment, implementation, and evaluation of provincial immunization programs, surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases, and invasive Group A Streptococcus infections. The physician supports outbreak investigation and management, policy analysis, and offers expert consultation on communicable diseases to strengthen public health networks and emergency management.
This role involves collaboration with communities, health authorities, Indigenous organizations, provincial ministries, and partners to address public health issues, uphold Indigenous rights, eliminate anti-Indigenous racism, and promote reconciliation within public health initiatives.
