Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Registered Nurse to join the team in Gibsons, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Public Health Nurse with VCH, you will:

  • Utilize public health nursing knowledge and expertise to promote and protect the optimal health, well-being, and safety of prenatal, infants, young children, youth, adults, and families through targeted programming.
  • Provide a full continuum of services including prevention, health promotion, and early intervention services to individuals/groups in community-based settings, using an equity-based approach to support population health and address social determinants of health.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external partners, including interdisciplinary and community connections.
  • Identify client needs at individual, community, and systemic levels, and determine necessary interventions such as screening, assessment, referral, advocacy, surveillance, education, and response to public health issues.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Completion of relevant specialty certificates (e.g., breastfeeding education, immunization, contraceptive management, STI management) and two years of recent public health nursing experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for work purposes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of public health nursing practices, community development, health promotion, and evidence-informed care.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, Indigenous cultural safety, and immunization practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations and team members, and to develop community resources.
  • Skills in counseling, teaching, conflict resolution, research participation, and operating related equipment and software.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties.
