Halton Women's Place is seeking a part-time educator to develop and deliver public education programs addressing woman abuse and healthy masculinity. The role focuses on engaging boys, men, fathers, and male allies, delivering in Halton schools, and collaborating with coaches, educators, and community partners.

Schedule: Flexible weekdays with occasional evening and weekend hours as required, to deliver community education sessions. Currently presentations are both Virtual and In-Person.Classification: Union

Halton Women's Place is the only Safe Shelter program in the Halton Region. We provide a safe haven, information, education, and counselling, to support women and children to live a life free from violence. We operate two emergency safe shelters, as well as community outreach and public education program. Our safe shelter facilities operate on a 24/7 basis.
To develop, co-ordinate, and facilitate activities and programs that educate classroom-based children and youth, the public, and community partners about woman abuse, and support the mission and objectives of Halton Women's Place. The incumbent will be positive, innovative, self-motivated and dedicated to raising awareness about violence against women. The incumbent will demonstrate our agency values of hope, choice, collaboration, and excellence in everything they do.
This position is dedicated to Halton Women's Place's Male EngageMENt initiative and is responsible for designing and facilitating programs that engage boys, men, fathers, coaches, educators, and male allies in violence prevention. The successful candidate will lead educational discussions on healthy masculinity, healthy relationships, gender-based violence prevention, bystander intervention, and allyship while fostering meaningful engagement with male-identifying audiences throughout Halton Region. This role will continue to design and facilitate our Male EngageMENt program within Halton schools, alongside other male allyship initiatives such as Coaching Boys Into Men (CBIM), Male Committee work, and additional educational initiatives focused on engaging men and boys as allies in ending gender-based violence.
Additional qualifications include: an understanding of the dynamics and effects of abuse on women and children; experience working with adults as an educator and trainer, children and youth as an educator, and with the public; experience working in a fast-paced and changeable environment; excellent organizational and time management skills.
It is a requirement to be comfortable presenting virtually and be efficient in the program of Google Meets but also other platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc. for community presentations.
This position requires travel for in-person presentations around the Region of Halton and occasionally, outside the Region. Own transportation is required.
The job requires the incumbent to be able to work both as a team member and independently and bring enthusiasm and energy to presentations. The successful candidate must be comfortable facilitating discussions and building authentic relationships with boys, men, fathers, coaches, educators, and male allies on topics related to healthy masculinity and violence prevention. The incumbent must be flexible and able to work under a variety of deadlines. The incumbent will represent Halton Women's Place with professionalism.
