The opportunity:
Reporting to the National Director, External Affairs, the Public Affairs Coordinator (24-month contract, including benefits) supports the activities of the department by coordinating the team’s initiatives, including project administration, coordinating stakeholder and government relations, and supporting the organization's public affairs strategy. This position requires a proactive, well-organized individual with excellent critical thinking and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Successful candidates will demonstrating a broad understanding of the three levels of government in Canada, and disability income supports and benefits. The candidate will have the ability to exercise judgment in relevant information collection to determine what matters. Further, the role requires the ability to take direction and maintain confidential information.

Responsibilities:
· Project Administration and Coordination:
· Assist in the planning, execution, and participate in the evaluation of public affairs projects and initiatives.
· Coordinate project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful completion.
· Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders and partners to achieve project goals.
· Support financial requirements including invoicing, expense tracking, budgeting, and reporting requirements.
· Develop and maintain stakeholder relationship management (SRM) database and stakeholder network platform.
· Stakeholder Relations:
· Develop and facilitate relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, and multi-sector stakeholder partners.
· Coordinate and facilitate meetings, events, and communications with stakeholders.
· Monitor and respond to stakeholder inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
· Draft and distribute public affairs materials, including project communications, and web and social media content.
· Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications.
Qualifications and experience:
· College certification in administration, project management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
· Proficiency in Asana, Basecamp, and SRM database platforms.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Proven ability to provide administrative support to senior leaders, including scheduling and meeting coordination, and ability to anticipate needs.
· Large-scale project coordination and administration, including timeline and resource coordination, working effectively with internal teams and external partners/stakeholders.
· Experience in coordinating budgets, tracking expenses, and preparing financial reports.
· Ability to compile and present data in clear, concise reports for internal and external stakeholders.
· Familiarity with accessibility and meeting diverse access needs.
· Experience working with government agencies or non-profit organizations.
· Knowledge of public policy and legislative processes.
· Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
· Living experience of disability is a strong asset for this role.
