The successful candidate will teach Grades 7–10 using Singapore Mathematics and contribute to HomeForm responsibilities, maintaining strong communication with families and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematics knowledge for intermediate/early secondary grades 7–10.

Responsibilities

• Teach Mathematics and Financial Literacy to Grades 7–10.
• Deliver rigorous math instruction with modeling, guided practice, and checks for understanding.
• Incorporate Singapore Mathematics for Grades 7–8 and plan lessons effectively.
• Deliver MTH1W/MPM2D to small groups and tailor instruction as needed.
• Maintain a clear scope and sequence and regular planning for units/weeks/months.
• Assess student understanding using quizzes, tests, and problem-solving tasks.
• Support CEMC problem solving and mathematics competition preparation.

InnovOak School is seeking an exceptional Part-Time Intermediate Mathematics Teacher to join our growing team.

This position is for an immediate opening. The successful candidate will teach Mathematics and Financial Literacy to students in Grades 7 to 10, helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required for success in senior secondary and university preparation courses.

This role is ideal for a teacher who enjoys developing deep conceptual understanding, strong procedural fluency, and advanced problem-solving skills rather than simply covering curriculum expectations. The position also includes shared HomeForm responsibilities with the HomeForm Teacher.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Mathematics and Financial Literacy to students in Grades 7 to 10.
• Deliver clear, rigorous Mathematics instruction with strong modelling, guided practice, independent work, and regular checks for understanding.
• Teach Grades 7 and 8 using Singapore Mathematics, with lessons carefully planned for effective classroom delivery.
• Deliver math programming to a class of 14-16 students
• Manage Grade 7/8 and Grade 9/10 instruction so that students remain engaged in meaningful Mathematics work throughout the period.
• Deliver MTH1W/MPM2D to a small group of students, with more of an individualized program structure when needed
• Maintain a clear scope and sequence so that students progress appropriately through required concepts and prerequisite skills.
• Complete all unit, and lesson planning on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
• Assign and monitor Mathematics homework, additional practice, review, and extension work as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and current gradebook records, including assessments, missing work, and evidence of student progress.
• Identify learning gaps early and provide targeted review or intervention.
• Use quizzes, tests, exit tickets, problem-solving tasks, and classroom observation to assess student understanding.
• Run weekly CEMC-style problem-solving activities and support students preparing for Mathematics competitions.
• Develop practical Financial Literacy skills including budgeting, saving, investing, and financial decision making.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues regarding progress and areas requiring attention.
• Share HomeForm responsibilities and contribute positively to the broader life of the school.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate:

• Has strong Mathematics knowledge and enjoys teaching Intermediate and early Secondary students.
• Has an effective and organized process for teaching Grades 7 to 10 Mathematics.
• Can keep students consistently engaged while managing different grades, levels, or instructional groups.
• Understands how Mathematics skills progress across grade levels and can identify prerequisite gaps.
• Uses clear explanations, worked examples, questioning, manipulatives, visual representations, and purposeful practice.
• Maintains strong routines for homework, additional practice, assessment, and gradebook record keeping.
• Plans ahead and keeps classes moving through an appropriate scope and sequence.
• Uses assessment evidence to determine when students require reteaching, additional practice, or extension.
• Creates a structured classroom with high academic expectations and effective classroom management.
• Is organized, dependable, professional, and consistent in follow-through.
• Builds positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Ontario College of Teachers certification or eligibility for certification is strongly preferred.
• Intermediate and/or Senior Mathematics qualifications are considered strong assets.
• Strong understanding of the Ontario Mathematics curriculum, particularly Grades 7 to 10.
• Previous Mathematics teaching experience is preferred.
• Experience with Singapore Mathematics or Waterloo Problem Solving is considered a strong asset.
• Experience with Mathematics competitions, enriched Mathematics, or advanced problem solving is considered an asset.
• Strong classroom management, assessment, communication, organization, and record-keeping skills.
