Overview

PT Grocery Clerk at Metro Inc.

Location: 25 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON. Shift: Days, Evenings & Weekends. This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit. The hourly wage starts at $17.60 and may be higher based on knowledge, skills, education, and prior experience. Any offered wage will fall within the wage scale in accordance with the collective agreement. This is a posting for an existing permanent part-time position.

What You’ll Do
  • Unload deliveries and organize products in the backroom or cooler.
  • Restock shelves with new inventory, ensuring items are placed in the correct locations.
  • Rotate stock (first-in, first-out).
  • Keep aisles, shelves, and the overall store clean and tidy.
  • Sweep and mop floors as needed.
  • Handle spills promptly and ensure the store is safe for customers.
  • Help customers find specific products or answer questions about items.
  • Provide recommendations and offer assistance with shopping needs.
  • Occasionally assist with helping customers put groceries into their vehicle.
  • Conduct periodic inventory counts and ensure accuracy.
  • Report any discrepancies or damaged items to supervisors.
  • Occasionally receive product and ensure the invoice is accurate.
  • Set up and maintain promotional displays and end caps.
  • Ensure that displays are visually appealing and well-organized.
  • Update signage and price tags as needed.
  • Perform price checks for customers and fellow employees.
  • Ensure that all products have the correct price tags and labels.
  • Provide support to other departments, such as bakery, deli/meat, or produce, when needed.
  • Assist with gathering shopping carts or baskets and putting them away when needed.
  • Assist with tasks or projects as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Use equipment and tools safely and properly.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents to management.
Qualifications
  • Customer service driven.
  • Able to stock merchandise and create displays.
  • Good product knowledge and attention to detail.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Retail experience is considered an asset.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time and work under minimal supervision.
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts which may include nights, weekends and holidays.
