Job description

We have an exciting part time (0.20 FTE) opportunity for an experienced Psychometrist to join the Interior Health team. This position is based out of the Castlegar District Health Centre in beautiful and sunny Castlegar, B.C.

This is a great opportunity to work within the health care system providing needed services to clients, opportunity to learn more about Psychology services (consultation, test administration etc.) in a Health Centre setting and learning new relevant skills for work as a Psychometrist.

What will you work on?

Under the clinical direction of the Psychologist/Neuropsychologist, this position administers, scores and summarizes results of established tests of psychological and neuropsychological function to adult and paediatric in and out-patients.


Some Typical Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Schedules and administers a battery of tests designed to evaluate cognitive, emotional, and personality function to referred patients. Scores tests, notes observations regarding patients’ behaviour, summarizes results and presents these to Psychologist/Neuropsychologist.
  • Maintains patient files and records and keeps workload statistics.
  • In consultation with the Psychologist/Neuropsychologist, plans revisions and expansion of existing battery of psychological tests.
  • Maintains library of test manuals, test norms and books and articles relevant to the interpretation of psychological tests.
  • Maintains adequate supplies of test forms and materials and arranges for ordering of these as required.
  • Ensures safety and well-being of patients being investigated and encourages optimal performance by providing appropriate physical and psychological supports.
  • Attends relevant hospital meetings as required/directed.
  • Demonstrates testing procedures to Hospital and Medical Staff, physicians, nurses and students as required/directed.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
Scheduling Information:

Shift types for this position are days and shift times are from 08:00 to 15:42 hours. Days of work are Thursday.
