Job description

We have an exciting casual opportunity for an experienced Psychometrist to join the Interior Health team. This position is based at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) in beautiful Kelowna, B.C.

This role offers a chance to work within the healthcare system, providing essential services to clients, and to expand your knowledge of psychology services such as consultation and test administration in a hospital setting. It also provides an opportunity to develop new relevant skills for a career as a Psychometrist.

What Will You Work On?

Under the clinical supervision of Psychologists/Neuropsychologists, this position involves administering, scoring, and summarizing results of psychological and neuropsychological tests for adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Schedule and administer tests to evaluate cognitive, emotional, and personality functions; score tests, observe patient behavior, and report findings to Psychologists/Neuropsychologists.
  • Maintain patient records and workload statistics.
  • Collaborate with Psychologists/Neuropsychologists to revise and expand testing batteries.
  • Manage test manuals, norms, and relevant literature for test interpretation.
  • Ensure supplies of testing materials are stocked and ordered as needed.
  • Ensure patient safety and well-being, providing appropriate supports to optimize performance.
  • Participate in hospital meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate testing procedures to hospital staff, physicians, nurses, and students as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Scheduling Information

This casual position offers day shifts from 08:00 to 16:00 hours. Casual employment means there are no guaranteed hours, with work varying from 0 to 37.5 hours per week. Many staff members start in casual roles that can lead to permanent or temporary positions.

About the Location/Unit

The KGH Psychology Department includes two Psychologists and currently two Psychometrists. Successful candidates will join a larger network of psychology professionals in the Central Okanagan, with opportunities to connect and collaborate.

The department is dedicated to providing high-quality services to patients, families, and healthcare staff. We are a friendly, welcoming team open to training and supporting new staff.
